Noboribetsu Jigoku Festival is an annual summer festival held in Noboribetsu Onsen on the last Saturday and Sunday of August. The 2026 event is the 63rd edition, and the organizers have confirmed the dates as Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30, 2026. It is organized by the City of Noboribetsu and the Noboribetsu International Tourism and Convention Association. Events are held along Gokuraku Street, the main shopping street of the onsen town, at Izumigen Park, and at Jigokudani (Hell Valley). The announced program includes the Enma Karakuri float, the Oni Mikoshi demon portable shrine procession, the Oni Odori mass demon dance, fireworks at Jigokudani, taiko drum performances, and other events. Noboribetsu Onsen is reached from JR Noboribetsu Station by Donan Bus on the Noboribetsu Onsen - Noboribetsu Ekimae line, a ride of about 27 minutes. By car, Noboribetsu Onsen is approximately 6 km from Noboribetsu-East IC. Paid parking is available near the venue, but the organizers expect the lots to fill early and recommend using public transport. Individual events may be changed or canceled due to bad weather or other circumstances.
